Laughing Medusas

When I write, it's everything that we don't know we can be that is written out of me, without exclusions, without stipulation, and everything we will be calls us to the unflagging, intoxicating, unappeasable search for love. In one another we will never be lacking. ~Helene Cixous "The Laugh of the Medusa"

How I Slept

"How was it?"
She asked me

It being the
Understood
If undeclared
Reference to you

Specifically
You with me
In your bed

"I sleep so well
In his bed."
I answered

As if the sheets
Were smoother
The pillows
Softer
The environment
More conducive
To rest

The lies we tell
Ourselves
And others
Are baldfaced
I realize

As I lay awake
In your smooth sheets
One soft pillow under my head
One soft pillow in my arms
Where you belong

I retract my
Previous statement
I don't
"sleep so well"
in your bed

What I meant was
I sleep so well
In your arms
